Dr. J. D. Weido is pastor of Bible Baptist Church in El Dorado, Arkansas. During a visit to El Dorado in 1991, Brother J.D. felt God's call to start an independent baptist church in the El Dorado area. In 1992, He, his wife Deanna, and four children moved to El Dorado to start a church. The ministry has grown since that time to include a strong missions program, Christian school, bus ministry, radio program, jail ministry, children’s churches, youth ministry, nursing home ministry, Character First program, and a growing Sunday school among its ministries.
J. D. Weido was born July 21, 1960, in San Antonio, Texas. His parents, Marvin and Jean, accepted Christ at the Huisache Avenue Baptist Church In August of 1969 his father surrendered to preach under the ministry of Dr. John Duckett at Helmers Street Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. His family moved to the Fort Worth area to attend the Bible Baptist Seminary.
At the age of 15, J. D. received Christ as his personal Savior while attending the church his father had started. Brother J.D. graduated from Southside Christian Academy where he met Deanna Miles and later married. J. D. planned to be a dairy farmer and raise his family in the country, but God had other plans. He surrendered to preach in November 1986, sold his dairy herd, and enrolled in the Norris Bible Baptist Institute (N.B.B.I.). While in school he worked as an associate for his father at Southside Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas.
During Brother J.D's ministry, many have surrendered to full time Christian ministry. Ms. Ginny Kelly (ret.) served as a missionary in Mexico. Brother Bobby Tucker pastors Bible Baptist Church in Junction City, Louisiana. Brother Burton Gates, Jr., planted the Liberty Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA. Brother Jim Martin planted the Gospel Light BaptistChurch in Seymore, TX. Brother Aaron Weido pastors Temple Baptist Church in New Iberia, LA. Brother Jonathan Smith serves as associate pastor at Old Fashion Baptist Church in Palestine, AR. Brother Jake Weido serves as Youth Pastor at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Malvern, AR. Brother Kalan Smith serves as Youth Director at Baptist Tabernacle in Sibley, LA. Diane Arender seves as missionary in the Philippines. Justin and Angie Arender serve as misionaries in the Philippines. Evangelist Freddie Reed serves as evangelist for 20/20 Vision and Future Champions of America. Brother Lee Gilkey, Joe Weido, and Bob Weido serve on-staff at Bible Baptist Church in El Dorado.
Brother J. D. travels extensively and speaks at Missions Conferences, Youth Camps, Revivals, and Bible Conferences around the country. Many have been saved and others have surrendered to full time service as he travels for the Lord.
“Back to the Basics” is Brother J. D.’s philosophy of ministry. Old Fashioned Singing, Old Fashioned Preaching, and Old Fashioned Loving People have brought God’s blessing on this preacher and his people.
